MAREK GLINKOWSKI – PLAYROOM

22.03.2025 - 30.04.2025

Bartosz Nowak

March 22, 2025

Date: 22.03.2025 – 30.04.2025

We invite you to the exhibition opening on Saturday, March 22nd at 6:00 PM.

A playroom is an arena for imagination, creativity, dynamism, and reflection. A seemingly defined place, yet one that defies established conventions. It takes on different characteristics for each user or viewer. The word “playroom,” beyond denoting an enclosed physical space, suggests harmonious interpersonal relationships and a state of security opposed to conflict or war.

“Play” is an activity serving entertainment that accompanies the development of culture, knowledge, and exploration of the world. A child, teenager, adult, or even a child hidden within a person’s life experience, loses themselves in play and builds alternative worlds. Nature and time play a key role in all of this.

A playroom is therefore an ambiguous invitation to create different narratives and discover our own strategies for participating and perceiving reality. Positive and negative emotions evoke reflection and questions in each of us. When does seemingly innocent play turn into a drama that awakens demons? Where are the boundaries of peace? Is there room for playing room in the playroom?

Who sets the boundaries of play? Who asks the questions, and where are the answers hidden?

Marek Glinkowski is a visual artist working with graphics, installations, and video art. His work explores socio-cultural and geopolitical themes. Using the language of art, he reflects on the broad context of the artwork: the relationship and interaction with the viewer, institutional and museum discourse. He is interested in the broad concept of matrix and art-inspired research. Marek Glinkowski works primarily in series, and his exhibitions are generally site-specific. He has participated in dozens of solo and group exhibitions in Poland and abroad. He runs a serigraphy studio at the Department of Artistic Printmaking at the Faculty of Graphic Arts, Academy of Art in Szczecin.

The exhibition runs until April 30, 2025.
